At the end of 2023, Philip Schroeder, Jacob Bauckmeier, Jonas Satke and Maxie Melpomene were lucky enough to come together to breathe visual life into the musician’s debut single “Silent Waters Rund Deep”. Over beer and chips in an Irish pub in the south of Leipzig, ideas were exchanged, experiences shared and friendships made. A film team with many years of experience who, through a great eye for detail, hard work and a lot of empathy, gave Maxie Melpomenes Song a heartbeat.
The narrative style of the video is special. One story on the screen as a projection tells the other in front of the screen in real life. Only through great trust between the film crew and the artist was it possible to tell an authentic story. The focus is on an ordinary family dinner. Everything seems harmonious. But then the change; borne by unspoken conflicts and unrecognized needs, the familiar family picture is shattered. First wallowing in memories, then more and more triggered, the protagonist, played by Maxie Melpomene herself, recognizes herself and remembers what was, what could have been and what never happened.
The singer and songwriter shows her fragile side with great emotion and sensitivity. Although the video tells a fictional story, the song is autobiographical. Maxie Melpomene comments on the message of the song: “We are the product of our parents and find it difficult to detach ourselves from them. We are shaped by their trauma, their memories and experiences. The responsibility and great difficulty lies in finding our own way. It is about this independence and the resulting doubts. If I only know this path that has been lived, how can I find my own? How do I manage to swim against the current?”
The video was filmed in Leipzig at the beginning of 2024 and has been available on YouTube since June 7, 2024.

With the single “Silent Waters Run Deep”, indie soul-pop singer and songwriter Maxie Melpomene makes her debut as a solo artist and presents the first single from her EP “Heretofore”.
The singer and songwriter shows her fragile side with great emotion and sensitivity. On the autobiographical story of the song and the message behind it, Maxie Melpomene says: “We are the product of our parents and find it difficult to detach ourselves from them. We are shaped by their trauma, their memories and experiences. The responsibility and great difficulty lies in finding our own way. It is about this independence and the resulting doubts. If I only know this path that has been lived, how can I find my own? How do I manage to swim against the current?”
In addition to her multi-faceted voice, Maxie Melpomene uses her many years of experience as a songwriter as an essential element for her songs. Her texts are autobiographical and tell of dealing with trauma, unfulfilled love and the rocky road to self-discovery. In “Silent Waters Run Deep”, she describes the struggle for emotional strength with great compassion.

After the EP release “Burn This Bridge” with her band Bird Trouble from London, Maxie Melpomene is now writing and composing for her solo project.
Born in Leipzig, she moved to London in 2009 to follow her true passion – music. She studied songwriting at ICMP (The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance), where she was awarded the Most Improved Songwriter Award twice in 2011 and 2014. Until 2016, she worked intensively on her songwriting and collaborated as a singer with artists from all over Europe in a wide variety of genres.
Maxie Melpomene is a project of the heart, which is characterized by the individual resistances in life. The texts tell of toxic relationships, self-love and dealing with doubt, fear and loss. Her empathic way of thinking forms the DNA of her music, enabling her to view people and their world as a whole. Maxie Melpomene is an artist from the indie-soul-pop genre who creates her own autobiographical songs. Her unique selling points include her distinctive vocal color and her great emotional depth, which is reflected in the lyrics and brings her stories to life.
Maxie Melpomene combines a deep passion for storytelling and the traditional singer/songwriter experience in her music. Their music combines elements of pop, soul and folk to create a gripping sound that focuses on the essentials. In combination with her own lyrics, she creates goosebump moments that touch the heart deeply and invite the listener into a melancholy world.
Maxie Melpomene has lived in Leipzig again since 2016. After a long break, the debut EP “Heretofore” is now being created with dedication. The first single “Silent Waters Run Deep” will be available on YouTube from June 7, 2024, with a lovingly designed video. The official release on all streaming platforms will follow on June 21, 2024.
